The Kōwhai Specialist Teacher Outreach Service (STOS) provides a specialist outreach teaching service for .1 and .2 ORS-funded students who are enrolled in mainstream schools in our area. The service is recognised by and reported to the Ministry of Education.

What we can offer:
Weekly support for ORS-funded students, .1 (HN) or .2 (VHN) Specialist Teacher time
- Support with curriculum adaptation
- Upskilling teaching staff and Teacher Aides to support students within their learning environment
- Support with the IEP process
- Assessment of students’ learning needs
- Planning and preparing individualised programmes
- Creating and adapting high interest, targeted and fun resources to best support student’s individual needs
- Monitoring and evaluating progress and achievement
- Weekly reflections on student learning shared with the whole team
- Modelling evidence-based teaching practice
- Support students’ social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Collaboration with school staff, parents/carers/whānau and other agencies to ensure consistency
